ILLOGIK
While hip-hop is down nation-wide, hip-hop on a local level is way up. Illogik from South Jersey is one of the reasons that Atlantic City’s Hip-Hop is as beautiful an art as it ever was. Mainstream hip-hop is only dangerous for kids who would have tied a bed sheet around their neck and jumped off a building when Superman was “hot”. However, Illogik’s brand of music is “DANGEROUS,” it’s “UNPREDICTABLE,” and it causes the listener to think. Illogik is an upcoming artist/rapper out of Atlantic City, NJ. He mainly writes his own music, but is expanding his talents to co-producing, ghostwriting for singers and possibly taking on acting. He has gained his biggest fan base out of Philadelphia, PA, as well as in New Jersey performing at some of both states most popular venues. He has been on local radio stations and has also been in published in local newspapers for his talent and hard work, as an artist.
Illogik separates himself from other rappers by taking the listener to places that makes him want to heal the world, not shoot it up for a new ride, a woman or some sneakers. His single “16 Reasons,” from his last CD “Rap Pandemic,” addresses the two-edged sword that is hip-hop in the 21st century. In the first verse he explains what’s made hip-hop less effective. In the second verse Illogik drops 16 reasons why he will always love the culture, and how it does have the potential to be saved. Today, he is now promoting his new CD called “Illogikal Thoughts,” which should be released in the next few months.
Illogik’s main target audience is between the ages of 18-40, and possibly could be older than 40, both males and females. They are a market that looks at music as life; some of them see it as motivational music. They are very picky about what’s hip-hop and what’s real hip-hop. This market spends most of their time shopping for the newest fashions, loves going to clubs and social clubs. They also love attending concerts and sport events. They have a great sense of humor and personality; and sometimes loves debating about who’s the best MC in the rap game. Illogik loves to perform for his audience, mainly big crowds, because he enjoys making them feel as if they are dealing with him one on one, the way he is dead on with his lyrics, relating to majority of his audience’s lives, in what they go through everyday.
